Ferme de Budé

La Ferme de Budé places absolute priority on local and organic products. The farm's goal is to favor small, certified organic producers in the region. If La Ferme de Budé is unable to meet demand, it turns to conventional producers it knows, whenever possible. As a last resort, the farm sources organic products from wholesalers, favoring Swiss suppliers first, then European ones. In addition, the farm offers a range of exotic products widely used in everyday cooking. Since taking over the Budé farm in 2009, it has been cultivating 5,000 m² of market garden land located in the park behind the farm. After several years of practice, the farm opted for a cultivation system adapted to small areas: biointensive micro-market gardening on permanent beds. In 2016, the farm drew inspiration from the work of Eliot Colman and Jean-Martin Fortier to study a project to transform its market garden crops. In 2017, the Budé farm launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the necessary funds to equip itself with the appropriate equipment for these micro-market gardening techniques. At the same time, the farm resized its garden plots and began testing new tools, machines, and techniques. Today, the farm grows 35 types of vegetables and 80 varieties, scrupulously adhering to organic farming standards according to the BioSuisse label. Since February 2019, the Budé farm has also installed a market gardening tunnel, which allows it to expand its production and grow vegetables outside the usual season, while providing optimal conditions for summer vegetables.
