Domaine des Gorges

The project at Domaine des Gorges began in 2016 with the renaturation of an underground watercourse, which today makes it possible to irrigate crops and increase biodiversity on the site. A large number of plantings and developments have been carried out, aimed at increasing landscape structural diversity and biodiversity. The main objective is to create functional links between the different components of the system to increase its resilience. The Domaine des Gorges is now a refuge area for biodiversity. In a context of collapsing biodiversity, the number of species on the site continues to increase, thus offering an explosion of life observable on a daily basis. For the Domaine des Gorges, the future lies in the integration of ecology into production systems. The preferred approach is one of integration rather than separation, in accordance with one of the fundamental principles of permaculture. At Domaine des Gorges, a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, berries, aromatic and medicinal perennials, as well as edible flowers, are grown by hand. In addition, electricity production (20,000 KW/year) is ensured by solar panels that cover the shed. The products are sold directly at the farm or through weekly baskets, and are also offered to various restaurants in the region. In summary, the Domaine des Gorges is a concrete example of the successful integration of ecology into production systems. It is proud to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity while offering high quality products directly to consumers and local restaurants.
