Rosa elliptica, the fragrant rose also known as the wedge-leaved rose, is a man-high, vigorous, upright and densely branched shrub. This wild rose can reach a height of up to 180 cm. Now rare, the shrub bears glossy green, wedge-shaped leaves that smell of fresh apples. Its shoots are heavily set with hooked prickles and it can form suckers. The flowers are white or pink, 2.5 to 4 cm across depending on the region. Depending on altitude, it blooms from June to July. The hip is orange-red and rather spherical to oval.
