Switching between monthly and annual billing

Your plan is paid monthly or annually. This article describes the rules for moving from one cycle to the other. How plans work in general is described in How plans work.

What the cycle determines

The cycle determines the frequency and the amount of your invoices. It changes neither the features of your plan nor its quotas.

The annual commitment works out cheaper than twelve months paid one by one. The price of both cycles is shown on the plans page.

The cycle is chosen when you subscribe and can then be changed from Billing. How to go about it differs depending on the direction.

Switching to the annual cycle

The switch is made from Change plan, using the cycle toggle. You can change plan in the same move.

It takes effect immediately and opens a twelve-month cycle from the day of the change.

The time remaining on the current monthly period is credited and deducted from the amount billed on the same day. The screen details the calculation before confirmation.

Your next due date falls one year after the day of the switch. The day of the month on which you were charged until then is not kept.

Returning to the monthly cycle

The return is not made from Change plan: on an annual cycle, that screen only shows annual prices. It has a separate action in Billing, whose confirmation reminds you of the discount you are giving up.

The return takes effect at the end of the current year. Your plan stays active until that date, unchanged, and monthly billing starts at the end of it. No refund is granted for the period already paid.

The change can still be cancelled as long as it has not taken effect.

Effect on options

Your options are kept when you switch and their billing aligns with the new frequency.

Removing an option takes effect at the end of the billing period. On an annual cycle, that period is the year: the option stays billed until the end of it. The other rules on options are described in How plans work.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change plan and cycle at the same time?

When switching to the annual cycle, yes: the plan and the cycle are chosen on the same screen, and the corresponding amount is shown before confirmation.

To return to monthly, no. The return is a separate action, to be done apart from the change of plan.

Does my annual cycle start on the date of my subscription?

No. It starts on the day of the switch to annual, and your next due date falls one year after that day.

Can I cancel during my year?

Yes. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Your features stay active until the end of it, after which your point of sale returns to the Base plan.
